Esposende is located approximately 30 minutes north of Porto and features a kitesurfing spot at a river mouth. If you park in the city, you will need to be transported to the kitesurfing spot by boat with the assistance of the kite schools listed below. It is advisable to contact the kite schools in advance to verify if they can ensure transportation on the desired day.
The spot itself is beautifully situated and suitable for kiteboarders or wingfoilers of all levels.
However, one should pay attention to the tide, as it can have a positive or negative impact depending on the current. If the current flows against the wind direction, you can still kite/wing well even with light winds. However, if the current flows in the same direction as the wind, kiting/winging can be challenging despite sufficient ground wind.
Wingfoilers should inquire with the kite schools about the current sandbanks to avoid an unplanned crash.
